Matthew Gammage
Over the last eight years, Matthew has successfully mediated conflicts in a broad range of situations: between colleagues at work, between senior managers and staff members, between neighbours and between teenagers at risk of homelessness and their parents/carers. Whatever the context, he is passionate about giving people the opportunity through mediation to find a way out of conflict that works for them.
Matthew has witnessed how people in conflict stop communicating effectively with each other. Things can then deteriorate through misunderstanding and blame. He knows how the pressure of this conflict can create misery for those involved and their colleagues, leading to stress-related absence, quitting and problems with mental health.
Matthew's mission in mediation is:
• to create a safe space where both parties can hear each other
• to work with both parties in coming to an agreement that will improve things for them both in the future
• to support the parties in escaping the burden of the conflict
• to reduce the cost of conflict for the organisation in grievance procedures, investigations, tribunals and litigation
